Oddball
Thoughts

Oddball Thoughts is a collection of observations written between 2019-2024 by former newspaper delivery boy, boardwalk barker, encyclopedia salesman, street art festival promoter, university executive, and filmmaker Donald Silverman.

Oddball Thoughts invites readers into Silverman’s quirky mind, where mundane moments are transformed into laugh-out-loud narratives. From the misadventures of travel to the peculiarities of family life, Silverman’s essays captivate with their wit, charm, and relatability. His unique voice shines through in pieces like “101 Donald Silvermans,” where a simple trip to the airport evolves into a hilarious contemplation on identity and “Hiding in Plain Sight,” a humorous take on life during the pandemic.

In a world of fake news, division, and hostility, Donald Silverman’s Oddball Thoughts offers a welcome antidote. Silverman serves up humor, for sure. Some of it is wacky, some of it is surreal. But all of it comes from the heart.”

You remember how the old Readers Digest was kept in every bathroom, because you could pick it up while sitting on the throne, open it up to any page, and enjoy an uplifting five minute story? Well, Readers Digest has found it’s successor.”
